Burts Bees

The influencer campaign that never was…

BurtsBeesInvite.jpg

Burts Bees have a consistent campaign to #bringbackthebees.

For every product bought they plant a certain amount of wildflower seeds.

They wanted to encourage more people to take action to #bringbackthebees.

Bee populations are seriously in decline.

The reason is the use of neonicotinoids (toxic pesticides) en-mass, by farmers.

A way to solve this problem is to rapidly increase wildflower populations in the UK.

How? Our idea was to use the world's biggest influencer (Meghan Markle).

And 2018's biggest wedding (her marriage to Prince Harry).

And get Meg to have wild flowers as her bouquet, sparking a trend amongst millions of UK brides for years to come.

This would dramatically increase demand for wild flowers.

With demand, comes supply and by default, millions more wild flowers.

On behalf of Burts Bees, we were going to write an open letter to Megan Markle.

We were in conversations with The Guardian (the paper we'd been tipped off that she reads).

We were literally millimeters from running (and PR'ing) this, when we saw this:

Great for the bees. Not so great for us!
